Vaeternus was a realm that was conquered long ago by Shao Kahn and was incorporated within Outworld.
This dimension was home to the vampires and one of their kind, Nitara, sought a mysterious orb within Outworld that would permamently release her dimension from Outworld. She was successful in her goal and freed her homeworld through the aid of the cyborg ninja Cyrax.
