"Techno Syndrome" is a song composed by Oliver Adams and performed by the Belgian techno duo The Immortals, commonly associated with the Mortal Kombat series since its usage in the 1995 film, which made it subsequently known as "the Mortal Kombat theme song." Remixed versions of the song continue to be associated with the Mortal Kombat franchise. The song was first released in 1993 as a single, going on to be featured in Mortal Kombat: The Album and in TV advertisements for the movie and the Live Tour. The "Mortal Kombat!" scream for which the song is known, in fact, was sampled from a TV ad for the first game.

The "Hypnotic House (Mortal Kombat)" was used as an intro in the Sega CD version of Mortal Kombat. "Techno Syndrome" is also a hidden song featured in the Sega CD version of Mortal Kombat, when one chooses to enter the "soundtrack" mode at the Sega CD intro screen. It can also be accessed by putting the CD in a CD player and selecting track 17.

There are actually 2 non-remixed versions of the song:

  • the "Test your might!" version where the only lyrics are "MORTAL KOMBAT!", "Test your might!" and the names of the kombatants that appear in the first game. This version takes vocal samples from Mortal Kombat.
  • the "Choose your destiny!" version, which keeps "MORTAL KOMBAT!" but replaces "Test your might!" with several more quotes: "Flawless Victory!", "Excellent!", "Fight!", "Finish Him!", "Finish Her!", "Brutality!", "Animality", "Fatality!", "Superb!", "You'll never win!" and Shao Kahn's laugh; additionally, besides four characters found in the previous version (Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero and Scorpion), other kombatants (Jax Briggs, Kitana, Jade, Cyrax, Smoke, Sheeva and Motaro) are named. This version takes vocal and sound samples from Mortal Kombat 3.

The version played at the movie (hence, the better known) is the "7" Mix", and is heard over the ending sequence and the credits.

There is also a remix of that song made by Jace Hall for Mortal Kombat (2011).

Another remix of the song made by Dimitri Vegas was later featured in an Official Launch trailer of Mortal Kombat 11.
