Overview |
A shotgun (also known as a scattergun) is a smoothbore firearm that is usually designed to be fired from the shoulder, which uses the energy of a fixed shell to fire a number of small spherical pellets called shot, or a solid projectile called a slug.
In Mortal Kombat[]
During Jade's Chapter in Mortal Kombat (2011). Baraka and a Tarkatan are seen holding and inspecting shotguns, specifically SPAS-12s, which they got from a weapons crate belonging to the Black Dragon.
In Mortal Kombat X, one of Jacqui Briggs' variations is called Shotgun, changing the gameplay mechanics of her gauntlets to close range and firing buckshots to deal damage or stun the opponent.
In Mortal Kombat 11, the Terminator's primary weapon is a modified lever-action sawed off shotgun. He uses it during gameplay but it can also be replaced to use his Ion Grenades or even use alongside them, however he will still use it during his Fatal Blow and Fatalities. With the Kustomization in the game, different styles of shotguns can be equipped. These vary from standard wooden-furnished lever-action styled shotguns, to other more modern sawed-off variants some even having scopes, to even futuristic looking shotguns.
Jax Briggs also uses a shotgun in Mortal Kombat 11, however, this is an Equip Ability that replaces his thumper grenade launcher.
Peacemaker uses a shotgun in his Fatal Blow and Pest Extermination Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1.
Trivia[]
- The Terminator's Lever-Action Shotguns are mostly based on the iconic Winchester 1887, used in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
- Interestingly enough, some of the shotguns do resemble a Winchester Model 1887, but with the forend of an pump-action shotgun attached to it for some odd reason.
