A Quitality is a new finishing move introduced in Mortal Kombat X. Quitalities occur only during an online match in which a player leaves the match before the end of the winning round (before the Finish Him/Her prompt). Doing this immediately causes that player's character's head to explode. This is similar to a Hara-Kiri in the way that the loser (somewhat) initiates their own demise.
In Mortal Kombat 11, Quitalities are different, this time they come in two possible outcomes:
- The loser is impaled on a giant rock spike, either from behind on the ground or from above in the air.
- The loser explodes into a bloody pulp.
In Mortal Kombat 1, as with MK11, there are two versions:
- The opponent snaps their own neck, killing themselves instantly.
- The opponent explodes into a bloody pulp, like in MK11.
