Nekros is an ancient city in the Netherrealm featured in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. and later featured in the Konquest mode of Mortal Kombat: Deception. This land is filled with a few large pagoda-like towers and small spiked houses and there is also a diabolical slaughterhouse found within this dark city. The city is modeled after the fallen Elder God Shinnok's view of some of the cities of Earthrealm, a world he has long sought to conquer.
It was built by sorcerers as a source of protection against not only the hostile evil environment which drains life energies from the living, but also against the bloodthirsty Onis and the putrid zombies whom they all considered as primitive and savage. Also within the city is an infamous festival called the Festival of Torture, which is a celebration held by the wicked citizens of the Netherrealm that consists of burning dead bodies while others watch the activity in delight.
