Trivia
- This game's launch premiere took place on the same day as the animated film Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match.
- This game can be seen in Johnny Cage's ending in Mortal Kombat 1 where an actor playing Kenshi in his film is seen playing the game on his tablet while having a conversation with an actress playing Tanya.
- All characters who appeared in Mortal Kombat 11 reuse their models from this game with new outfits, while characters who were absent from that game (Quan Chi, Tanya, Goro, Cyber Smoke, and Cyber Sub-Zero) receive new models to match the art style of MK11. The MK1 characters (Scorpion, Kenshi, Ashrah, Shang Tsung, and Peacemaker) reuse their models from MK1.
- Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, D'Vorah, Geras, Kollector, and Rain are the only non-guest characters from Mortal Kombat 11 who do not appear in this game. Cetrion and Sheeva, while unplayable, appear as NPCs in the game's Story Mode.
- Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Sonya Blade are the only characters whose voice actors from MK11 do not reprise their roles in this game, as they are now respectively voiced by Travis Willingham, Alan Lee, and Vanessa Marshall (the former two of whom reprise their roles from MK1 and the latter also voices Sheeva) rather than Richard Epcar, Cary Tagawa, and Ronda Rousey.
