The new timeline isn't a hard reboot. The timelines are SUPPOSED to be identical up to the point Raiden recieves his visions in MK9. That is the premise. Any contradiction to that is a continuity error.
Also, NRS is a terrible company, and I have proof to back that up:
“Sexist, transphobic and generally toxic behavior was rampant, likely due to the fact that people were working 80-plus hours a week for months on end and there was no accountability for such behavior,” the former female employee told Variety via email. “I heard from multiple people that a cabal of male [developers] had nicknames for all of the women in the office, including ‘Silver Fox’, ‘DB’/’Dyke Bitch’ and ‘Morph,’ in reference to a trans employee. A co-worker once jokingly called an ‘Injustice Mobile’ character who did bleeding damage over time ‘Time-of-the-Month Wonder Woman’ in the presence of two leads, and referring to women as ‘bitches’ was commonplace.”
And I'm sorry, but it isn't "to each their own". That's factually wat the setup for the new timeline is. Raiden is recieving visions from the future and begins altering the timeline from there. The Sindel retcon makes absolutely no sense within that premise, especially when both her bio and ending in the game explicitly state that she is a good person put under mid control.
So I dunno if anybody will even care but I figure I'd put this out there.
Me and some friends from a Discord server are working on a collabarative fanfiction project which we have dubbed Mortal Kombat: Reqiuem.
The story is a direct sequel to MKX ignoring MK11 enitrely in which we aim to fix the new timeline's many, MANY issues, by actually properly building on what was established, explaining things better where we could, bringing back original timeline plot points, and often times just introducing stuff we thought would be cool or interesting.
I myself have been writing bios for the many charcters involved in the story which can be found on my Deviantart:
