The Khaoseum is a stage that debuted in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the Khaos Reigns Story Mode expansion. It is a massive arena of death and anarchy overseen by Titan Havik himself.

Overview

Unlike Shao Kahn's and Kotal's after him, death, chaos and anarchy make up the Khaoseum. Kombatants from other timelines are forced to fight in the bloody, disconnected walls of the arena within Titan Havik's timeline, including his own residents. The spectators consist mostly of other variants of Havik, whether from other timelines or clones of Titan Havik. Kombatants are forced to fight to the death, where freedom is not an option and death is the only chance of escape from the madness of the Khaoseum.

Similar to Shao Kahn, Titan Havik is seated front and center to the main area of kombat. In the Story Mode, he is accompanied by chaos variants of Kenshi and Takeda Takahashi at his throne.

Underneath the Khaoseum lies The Maze, a booby-trap riddled tunnel system where kombatants must survive, whether from traps or other fighters.

In the Night Version of the Stage, above Titan Havik's throne are stone skulls floating yet chained to the arena. During the main event fights, they are replaced with giant jumbotrons floating above the arena that broadcast the fights. In player matches, the trons simply show the spectating Haviks, which is archival footage from the Story Mode.

Trivia

  • Titan Havik watches from his throne in the center of the arena and will actively follow the fighters.
    • Occasionally he is attacked by non-chaos inhabitants, but they are quickly and easily defeated by the Titan.
    • Titan Havik will remain idle on his throne with his arms cross until the player fighters begin kombat by any means. This is easily seen in Practice Mode.
      • Titan Havik will return to his idle pose when changing Kameo Fighters in Practice Mode.
    • Titan Havik will become enrages then return to his throne in his idle pose after a Brutality is performed.
  • During the Story Mode, starting in the Khaoseum until the story's protagonists leave Titan Havik's timeline, he will serve as the announcer for every fight in his timeline.
  • In most arenas featuring characters in the background, the specific fighter will be absent from their position if they are participating in the fight at hand. This is not the case with Titan Havik, as even if Havik is selected wearing the corresponding Kosmetics to match Titan Havik's appearance, he will still be on his throne spectating.

Errors

  • Titan Havik will return to his idle pose on his throne if either player uses their Fatal Blow as if the match had ended via Brutality. He remains idle for the rest of the match and will not be attacked by the non-chaos inhabitants as a result.
