Kahn's Arena (MKII)

Kahn's Arena is also known as Shao Kahn's Arena. In Outworld, Shao Kahn has his own arena where the Konquerer will sometimes battle opponents himself. There are literally hundreds of spectators that come to see their emperor crush opponents in battle. When not battling, Shao Kahn observes the fight from his throne.

Sonya Blade and Kano were captured and held here in Mortal Kombat II as prisoners forced to observe the vicious battles that took place to the delight of the blood thirsty crowd and Shao Kahn himself when not competing. Kahn's Arena also reappeared in Mortal Kombat Trilogy, however due to Sonya and Kano being playable they were removed from chains in the background.

While this arena originally premiered in Mortal Kombat II, it has been overhauled for Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. The new arena now has four Death Traps of various flavors: twin crushing gears, a pool of acid, a pool of lava and a pike-laiden pit.

In Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, Kahn's Arena serves as the arena for the final battles of the game against Shang Tsung, Kintaro and Shao Kahn. Should the player lose to either fighter, Shao Kahn will perform a Fatality by smashing the opponent onto his throne using his Wrath Hammer. The arena is depicted slightly different; the arena is no longer a walkway, but an elevated circular platform. The two Shaolin warriors Liu Kang and Kung Lao first went to the arena's dungeon and helped Major Jax Briggs rescued his partner Lt. Sonya Blade from the clutches of the Black Dragon thug Kano who then escaped and got away. After Jax and Sonya safely made their way back to Earthrealm through a portal, Kung Lao and Liu Kang made their way to the arena face off the vicious Emperor of Outworld in the fight for Earth. As Shao kahn was weakened in the last stage of the fight, The Thunder God Raiden than blast his lightning attack onto Kahn and turn him into stone. In that advantage, Liu Kang and Kung finally destroyed Shao Kahn with their high flying kick, and the people of Outworld were free from the tyrannical warlord's grip. The realms were liberated and safe once more as Raiden along with Kitana and Johnny Cage among the no longer-bloodthirsty crowd, congratulated the two heroic fighters in that battle. And Raiden himself declears that it's time for all the champions of Mortal Kombat to return home. Then out of the crowd and admits the shattered pieces of Shao Kahn is a strange golden medallion with weaken magic that is now in the hands of a certain demon sorcerer with certain plans for it as his wicked laughter echoes in the end.
