Heaven or the Heavens is a realm in the Mortal Kombat video game series.
About the Heavens[]
As its name suggests, Heaven is the realm where the gods reside, and the destination for the souls of those who have died as morally righteous beings. Nothing is known about this mysterious realm, except that it is one of the two realms that is infinite in space, the other one being its polar opposite, the Netherrealm. It is an amalgamation of the East Asian and Christian concepts of Heaven. The realm can be accessed via Soulnado. Scorpion's Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance ending says he was ripped apart by the purity of that realm, indicating that impure beings may be obliterated upon entering.
Native species[]
Though questionable as it may be, the Gods are considered to originate from the Heavens. The Elder Gods' place of origin appears to be the universe itself, however.
Notable residents[]
- Raiden: God of Thunder (former Elder God).
- Fujin: God of Wind.
- Earth God: Elemental God of Earth.
- Water God: Elemental God of Water.
- Fire God: Elemental God of Fire.
- Shinnok: A fallen God (former Elder God).
- Cetrion: Goddess of all elements.
In the Mortal Kombat: Conquest TV series, Shao Kahn fooled a large group of people called the Shaakans into believing that he is their god - every aspect of their culture reflects this foolish worship of the Emperor.
Relationships with other realms[]
Obviously, the Heavens' biggest threat comes from the Netherrealm; its polar opposite. While it doesn't get mentioned often in the games, there are hints that it seems to be in a neutral relationship with other Realms. As it is considered paradise by the denizens of Earthrealm, its citizens look upon it with favor.
