Hapkido is a highly eclectic Korean martial art that employs hand and leg strikes at long distance and joint locks and throws at close range, emphasizing circular motion. Fighting advantage is gained by using footwork and body position to increase leverage, avoiding a direct confrontation of strength. Hapkido evolved from jujitsu techniques brought from Japan to Korea following WWII.

Mortal Kombat
Hapkido is used by Scorpion as his primary fighting style in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Deception, Unchained and Armageddon.
It is also used as primary fighting style by Blaze in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and Unchained because of him only having fighting styles from other characters, and by Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition, because he was a palette swap version of Scorpion in that game.
The character Monster also used this fighting style in Deception's Konquest Mode, due to being a reskin of Scorpion.

Trivia
- During development of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Hapkido was used as a placeholder fighting style for characters whose actual styles had yet to be implemented. This can be seen in many in-development screenshots of the game. This practice continued during the developments of Deception and Armageddon.
