Galaxian is a 1979 fixed shooter arcade game developed and published by Namco. In North America, it was manufactured and distributed by Midway Games. It was designed by Kazunori Sawano, who worked on many of Namco's electro-mechanical shooting gallery games, and programmed by Kōichi Tashiro.
It presented a simple gameplay. Swarms of Galaxians, which are aliens which planned to take over and enslave Earth, attacked the player's ship. The ship could only have one shot on screen at a time and the player would have to defeat one swarm, only to have it replaced by another swarm, more aggressive and challenging, in the next screen.
