Mortal Kombat X - Faction Select Screen

Factions is an always-active Multiplayer mode (introduced in Mortal Kombat X) in which you can compete with other players for points that go to the faction you've chosen. At the end of each week, a faction and player within that faction will be announced as the winners. Players can also earn various rewards by competing in this mode, one of which is a faction-specific Faction Kill, a new form of the Fatality.

When playing Mortal Kombat X for the first time, the player has the option to choose one of five factions in the game: Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Special Forces, Black Dragon, or Brotherhood of Shadows. Each individual faction is represented by Sub-Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Kano and Quan Chi, respectively.

Factions Mode is unique in the sense that all players who are online are essentially put into a never-ending competition. In this competition, factions have to do their best to gain as many points as possible. Points can be earned by doing a multitude of things, such as winning a fight, pulling off Fatalities and X-Rays, stringing combos together and much more. You can also earn points for your faction by playing in the offline modes (just as long as you are simultaneously online while doing so).

Depending on what faction you choose, your game's menus will be customized to fit the look of said faction.

Players will reportedly have the option to switch factions, but at this point in time it's unknown what this "cost" is. Players will also be able to choose a new faction by the end of each week. Alternatively, the player can decide to not pick any faction, though, this slightly limits some of the modes you can play online.
