Challenge Tower

The Challenge Tower is a new gameplay mode found in Mortal Kombat (2011).

It consists of 300 individual "Challenges" - normal fights, fights with specific conditions, and side games such as Test Your Might, Test Your Sight, Test Your Strike and Test Your Luck. There are also other characters the player may control, such as Director.

Ed Boon claimed there is a substantial reward for clearing the final Challenge, which he describes as incredibly difficult. Players can use Koins to skip a challenge. If a challenge is skipped and not completed, the player will not earn the achievement "Tower Master" awarded for completing the Tower.

The reward for clearing the Challenge Tower was revealed to be Mileena's Flesh Pits Costume. Along with the costume, the player earns an achievement entitled: "Best...Alternate...EVER!" It is not necessary, however, to clear all Tower Challenges to unlock the outfit, as it will be automatically unlocked as of the completion of the final challenge.

The PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat (2011) featured 150 new challenges.

Trivia

The final challenge "End Game", is the only one where the player can choose their character.

On challenge 34, if Scorpion uses his spear and you use Kano's up-ball the same time the spear hits you, the game may glitch and Kano will fly out of the screen while still attached to Scorpion's spear. The camera will pan up and up until Kano teleports back into his original spot (on the ground) and the camera will keep going until it gets teleported back too. Some damage will be done to Kano (from the spear) but otherwise neither characters will be affected.
