I was inspired by The4thSnake to make a hypothetical tier list of which characters would be kept after MK12 and which would be erased forever.

Its just that Kuai showed up in MK2 and Frost didn’t show up until Deadly Alliance, which makes me think there’s a somewhat big age gap
Age matters a lot, power dynamics can come into play when there are unreasonable age gaps.

Also neither of the optional ships are all that good at all because Elsa is in a franchise with a completely different vibe and Frost is Sub-Zero’s apprentice, which would make Frost significantly younger than him.

I ship Kuai Liang with Tomas Vrbada.
I think Scorpion is incredibly overrated and needs to sit the next game out.
The worst of those characters is Hsu Hao, the other characters are actually pretty good.
Sub-Zero x Smoke is better

Chameleon. He doesn't have anything going for him, he's just mysterious. We don't know his motivations, his story and anything like that. And anything good he has going for him (invisibility, for example) is outshined by the more clearly defined Khameleon.

In MK12, if this hypothetically happened, it would play out like Armageddon with every character having a great journey before 50% of them are deleted.
Also, you're kinda saying you hate Mileena because of her negative fans.
I erased Baraka to make room for a more interesting looking Tarkatan and so that Mileena could possibly become the leader of the Tarkatans.
I erased Quan Chi, Goro, Shinnock, Kabal and Kano because I think their roles are over, they've played his part and can take their final bows.
I erased Shao Kahn because he's already done a great deal for the series but we should make room for more overarching antagonists and so some other characters (e.g Sindel, Kitana, etc.) can finish their arcs and do different things.
I erased Sektor and Smoke because they can live on through Triborg
I'm keeping Mileena because she's an awesome character with a lot of story potential. She should be kept around a little longer and grow into a greater character.
Kintaro's staying because he's awesome and has untapped potential.
Hotaru is staying so that we can keep something of the Orderrealm.
