Is there a source of information on other characters that people put in these games? I know they include characters from other MK sources like the Malibu comics but there's certain characters I see in those games that I don't recognize. Anywhere I can read up on them?

They barely feel like adaptions, just using the characters and slight references to the source material
The second one was all over the place and the first one kind of neutered Liu Kang but the rest are pretty decent. They're pretty much studio funded fanfics

There are some gameplay features that are heavily slept on like chaining moves and powers and the stage transitions.
