Shang Tsung/Alternate Timeline

With Kronica's crown and hourglass, and no one left to oppose him, what would Shang Tsung do? How would he achieve his vision? What even is Shang Tsung's vision?

In His MK9`s Bio , it`s stated that Shang Tsung is originally from Earthrealm, despite this He held the MK tournament in favor of Outworld, meanwhile in Bo`Rai Cho`s Bio, from previous Game it`s stated that he could not fight for Earthrealm , since being a outworlder, any victory would count for outworld, that`s why he decided to train Liu Kang to be the champiom instead.

My point is: If Shang Tsung is an Earthrealmer, would´t his eventual victory upon Liu Kang count for Earth instead? Do you consider it a plot hole or not? Share your Thoughts.
