Theory: The Shokan are originally from Zaterra

I was using Sheeva in online matches (she's my third main, second in MK11 since there's no Reptile) and when fighting Skarlet something she said in the intro got me thinking, She called Sheeva a "Sub-Zaterran mongrel" to which Sheeva replied: "Sub-Zaterran?" It seems that Skarlet knows something about the Shokan that the Shokan themselves are unaware of.

For those that don't know, the Shokan have dragon blood, which is why they are compatible with Onaga, Goro even becoming Onaga's vessel. They are also a subterranean society so when Shao Khan conquered Zaterra they may have been unaware of it. Reptile, the main Zaterran we know of is also compatible with Onaga as we saw in the old timeline.

Here's the question: What if Zaterra is Onaga's birthplace and that's why Shao Khan conquered it as soon as he became Khan? Zaterra may have been the home of many Reptilian races like the Saurians, Dragons, Shokan, etc. Do you all think that the Shokan were originally from Zaterra? Or that Onaga was Zaterran?

That's actually a pretty good theory but how do the shokan not know like gorback and all the rest of them? Mind wype spell or something?

Well, Zaterra was conquered so long ago that most people don't even remember it. Reptile himself is thousands of years old and he barely knows anything about Zaterra with Nitara having much more knowledge than him about the subject. My guess is that the Shokan we know are from a younger generation (still thousands of years old though), perhaps an older generation migrated to Outworld, who knows..

They could make a prequel series connected to the games that explain many things but not like MK: Conquest, I loved it when it came out but back then I did not care about continuity. They could make a connected universe (games, movies, shows, comics) like Star Wars does. There is so much potential, the MK:X comics has one of the best stories in MK and it has nothing to do with the tournament, Outworld's civil war is one of the best stories so far.

Couple things:

-the sauren dont actually come from Zaterra. They evolved from earth realm and then moved as humanity appeared. So they adopted zaterra. So if onaga has connection to Reptile's species, it wouldnt be thriugh Zaterra.

-the shokan are said to be the evolution of dragons from outworld.

-calling sheeva "sub zaterran" i think was just an insult. Zaterrans are seen as slaves and lowly. Its pretty much like "you're no better than those lowly people".

True, but the Saurians migration to Zaterra happened millions of years before. Then again, the Saurians were probably the dominant race in Zaterra so the Dragons being from there is unlikely due to how powerful dragons were. I also realize that Reptile's compatibility with Onaga is due to his reptilian DNA rather than his birthplace.

Well, It was an interesting thought, as unlikely as it may be. It seems that in the new timeline Onaga is using the Shokan rather than Reptile so I'm wondering where Reptile is. I know he appears in the Krypt but all that tells us is that he is alive.

It's possible that Zaterra is incredibly large, and one region distant from all others is for the Shokan, and the Saurians are distantly related. Zaterra would just have been really huge and created the illusion that they were two different realms.
